Clear2o Water Filters and Berkey for Clean Boondocking Water

Posted on May 28, 2023May 28, 2023 By admin

Since we have moved in to the RV we have had to get water in several different places. Even when staying in RV parks you will probably want to filter your water, but because we use Hipcamps and boondock we really never know where we will be getting our water and what the quality will be. Below is a quick run through of the water filtration setup we use with our rig.

We start off with a variety of adapters at the water spigot where ever we can find one to use. You can check this video to see what we carry in our water fetching crate. We got through a drinking water rated hose and through our first step of filtration, a Clear2o Sediment and Solids Filter.

This filter comes with a strain relief hose, a wrench, an adapter, housing and a 20 micron solids filter.

It can be washed off if it gets clogged up and the housing can be emptied to remove any larger solids it catches.

Do not over tighten the cap and be sure not to pinch the gasket when reassembling after cleaning.

Next up is the Clear2o Inline 1 micron solid carbon filter. It is pictured here by itself but it is made to screw into the inside of the solids filter I linked above. There isn’t much to say about installing this as you just attach both ends and snug them up.

I did want to mention that this filter takes out a lot of Sulphur smells and tastes, odd odors and other containments down to 1 micron.

This is the filtration set up that we use before the water is put into our fresh water tank in the RV or the 75 gallon tank we have in our truck. We use this water for showers, laundry and doing dishes and don’t notice any odd smells or dirty tank issues.

We have one more step we take if we are using the water for cooking, drinking or giving to the dogs to drink. We run about 7 gallons of water a day through our Berkey Royal and we love it. The water tastes great and I am confident it is clean enough to drink.
